The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) had no live tracking system for cargo, which led to issues such as data tampering, delays in transit, thefts, and smuggling. These problems resulted in revenue losses and prompted ZIMRA to seek an upgraded tracking system to overcome these challenges.

Techno Brain implemented a unique and sophisticated real-time Electronic Cargo Tracking and Security System (ECTS) based on their Locate365 Platform. This system enabled ZIMRA to enhance enforcement of cargo handling regulations, improve tax collection by curbing incidents of dumping, and reduce transit monitoring operations costs.

The ECTS provided real-time tracking of cargo from the source to the destination border station, generating alerts and alarms for tampering, geo-fence violations, and other suspicious activities. This system allowed ZIMRA to generate various reports, support access controls, facilitate information sharing, and replay any event of the journey in case of disputes. The implementation of ECTS helped ZIMRA intercept four tankers that had smuggled 140,000 liters of diesel, preventing a revenue loss of $55,650, and demonstrated the system's effectiveness in combating smuggling and improving accountability.
